Parks Master Plan Update

MHS, the consultant who originally prepared our Master Plan in 2019, is now working on an update to that plan. The Master Plan serves as a guide for the development and management of our parks and recreation facilities over a ten-year period. It is recommended to review and update the plan every five years to account for completed projects and changing community needs. This process helps us remain competitive for grants with Texas Parks and Wildlife. The primary focus of this update will be reinvesting in existing infrastructure. The process is expected to be completed in late summer of 2025.

Athletic Complex Assessment

Staff met with our consultant Parkhill in early 2025 to discuss improvements to our current athletic complexes and how best to meet the future needs of our users. They provided an assessment of our athletic field complexes, which will guide future construction phases. The assessment focuses on five parks: Bridges Park, Turner Soccer Complex, the baseball and softball complex, BB Owens, and Camey Soccer Complex. The primary goal is to identify existing deficiencies and explore ways to improve accessibility, amenities, and field conditions. We plan to hold a Public Engagement during our Arbor Day event on April 26th, 2025.

Pickleball Courts & Concept Master Plan

We have worked with our consultant on the design of four pickleball courts at the future recreation center site. To ensure the pickleball courts are placed properly for future amenities, we have also tasked the consultant with providing a concept master plan of the site.
